What the %#&! is NoDating?

First of all, NoDating is not a war cry against dating, but is a reaction to the recent trend facilitated by Internet dating sites and speed dating events of dating strangers to figure out if you want to date them.

NoDating is a philosophy of taking the time to actually get to know people in person by spending time with them at local social networking events and finding someone you really like before you start actually dating the person.

Internet dating provides a great way to identify many people who have certain qualities you are looking for, but trying to get to know people on-line is awkward, time consuming and you never know when people are lying. When meeting people in person, you can get to know people much faster than on-line. Speed dating events allow you to meet in person, but you only meet whoever randomly comes to that event. There is no way to ensure that you will be meeting the people you want to meet. Speed dating also expects you to decide if you want to start dating someone after talking for only a few minutes. After five minutes of conversation, you may know if you want to sleep with said person, but do you really know if you want to start a relationship?

The NoDating approach is to use the power of the Internet to identify people you are interested in getting to know and then meeting them at live events. The events are not "Dating" events in that there are no contrived and awkward mechanisms trying to force things and you are not expected to decide right away if you want to start dating any particular person.. You are encouraged to get to know people before you start dating them.
